Health, Wellness, & Recreation at Bristol Works!

The Bristol Works! partners made an early decision that the project would focus major attention on Health, Wellness, and Recreation. We wanted to create a “one-stop shop” health and wellness destination at Bristol Works! and have worked hard to introduce our project to attract those who share our vision.

We believe that a focus on health and wellness contributes to the community in several ways:

Entry

We are thrilled to announce that 7,800 SF of space in one of our buildings is being fit up for Porter Medical Center of Middlebury to relocate its primary care and internal medicine practices to the Bristol Works! campus. They will also add a laboratory, a drive-through apothecary, examination rooms, and physician and technician offices. Read the article that appeared in the Addison Independent announcing their decision.

Mountain Health, a family practice group located in Bristol will join Bristol Works! as a new tenant starting in July of 2012. They will be expanding their practice with more service providers, more examination rooms and more space, all on one floor and completely accessible.

To date, significant interest has been expressed by a broad range of other, complementary physical therapy and fitness service providers to consider Bristol Works! as their new home.

As a complement to health/wellness services, we entered into discussions with the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union (ANSU), to consider a move of their education services staff to the Bristol Works! site. This process led to the development of a smaller, more efficient facilities layout, and the work was completed in September of 2011.

We anticipate that the mixed use concept for the Bristol Works! site, i.e., health, wellness and education services, manufacturing and value add services, and a dozen or so super efficient cottage style housing units, will all help to contribute to a sense of community and connectedness with the existing neighborhood.

These health care initiatives are significant because they help us to realize the overall Bristol Works! vision, and will consolidate services critical to the health and well being of the community-at-large. This also demonstrates our commitment to public/private partnerships because they offer a clear path to community engagement, job creation, and economic sustainability.
